User Guide
SHORE-TO-SHIP:
The message-addressing format for sending
to a vessel through StratosMail has two components:
1. The Inmarsat mobile (telex) number, and
2. The Stratos Internet address domain @mail.stratosmobile.net
For example:
1) An Inmarsat-C Mobile Number is addressed as: 423456789@mail.stratosmobile.net
2) An alias is addresses as: piraeus@mail.stratosmobile.net
WARNING: This service is intended for plain
text messaging only. Do not send e-cards, pictures, word processor
documents or spreadsheets. These are large files that can
be very costly and cannot be interpreted by the satellite
unit onboard the vessel.
SHIP-TO-SHORE:
Addressing a Message from an
Inmarsat-C Terminal
To send Internet e-mail from your Inmarsat-C
transceiver:
1. Select "Special" or "Special
Access Code" as the delivery network (instead of choosing
Fax, Telex, PSTN, X.25, X.400, etc.).
2. Enter a "Special" Access Code of 63 for the Stratos
Service.
3. Choose 7 bit, 8 bit, binary or data for ALL Ocean Regions
(choice depends on terminal manufacture software options,
but either selection is OK).
4. If using a Trimble Galaxy or Galaxy Sentinel version 4.0
or higher, choose the "Compressed Text" option,
for added savings through Stratos. (Stratos is the only Inmarsat-C
service provider that accommodates the Trimble Galaxy compression
feature for Internet e-mail delivery).
5. Choose the Stratos LES for the Ocean Region that the vessel
is logged into, from the table below:

Note that in place of INET:
